About CLEAN GREEN Certification
Clean Green Certification, developed by Chris Van Hook, a California attorney and licensed USDA Organic Certifier, provides an independent third party Certification that the medicinal cannabis was grown, processed and handled in accordance with National Organic Program guidelines.
Chris also assists growers in meeting Local, County, and State agricultural requirements that help to develop Local and State good will. These requirements vary from County to County.
The Need
The USDA’s ban on the participation of medical cannabis growers in the USDA’s “Organic” Certification program, left medical cannabis patients with no independent third party certification that the medicinal cannabis was grown, processed and handled in accordance with National Organic Program guidelines.
Products labeled “organic”
The USDA is aggressive in protecting the use of the word “organic” on product labeling. There is an $11,000 fine for labeling a product as “organic” without USDA Certification.
Clean Green Certified growers will be authorized to use the Clean Green Certification logo on product labeling. The Clean Green Certification logo certifies “compliance based on NOP Guidelines” instead of using the word “organic” on product labeling.
NOP guidelines, used for USDA Organic Certification, represent nationally accepted standards and procedures for the production, distribution and record keeping requirements for an agricultural product that is labeled “organic”.
The Clean Green Certification, based on the NOP guidelines, enables medicinal cannabis growers to produce and distribute medicinal cannabis in accordance with these nationally accepted standards and procedures developed to insure a clean and safe consumer product.
